What is Clinical Queries?

In PubMed, narrowing results to those relevant to clinical questions can be challenging due to the vast number of articles. Clinical Queries are designed to help you efficiently search the clinical literature, which is crucial for evidence-based practice research.

Clinical Queries can be found on the PubMed homepage under the "Find" menu.

There are two types of categories you can filter: Clinical Studies and COVID-19.

You can adjust your results using filters and scope.

Filters:

  • Therapy
  • Clinical Prediction Guides
  • Diagnosis
  • Etiology
  • Prognosis

Scope:

  • Broad: Provides more results, but some may be less relevant
  • Narrow: Offers more precise and relevant results but with fewer articles

NOTE: We suggest using Narrow scope rather than Broad.

More about the Clinical Queries filters can be found be found here.

This feature helps clinicians locate systematic reviews and similar articles by combining search terms with citations identified as systematic reviews, meta-analyses, reviews of clinical trials, evidence-based medicine, consensus development conferences, and guidelines. You can refine these results using PubMed's Filters, such as language and study type (e.g., humans).
